INSTITUTIONS
Resettlement Authority


The Authority is managed by the Board of Directors with 9 members, two of them would be ex-officio members representing Secretary to the Treasury and the Secretary to the Ministry of Plan Implementation. Other 7 members will be appointed by the Minister in charge of Resettlement from among persons possessing proven expertise in the areas of resettlement, relocation, infrastructure development, finance and provincial administration. The Chairman shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.

Rehabilitation Authority
Rehabilitation of Persons, Properties and Industries Authority (REPPIA)

The    Rehabilitation authority was established in terms of the Rehabilitation of Persons Properties and Industries Authority Act No 29 in 1987.

Vision
Economic and social prosperity through Rehabilitation of Persons, Properties and Industries for the victims of violence and for the refugees.

Mission
To create a conducive socio-economic and cultural environment through Rehabilitation and Reconstruction for the population affected by ethnic violence, subversive violence or terrorist activities in order to facilitate and ensure the resumption of a normal and productive life.

National Disaster Relief Services Center
Our Mission
Mission is to protect Human life, property and the environment from natural disaster through awareness, prevention, preparedness, mitigation and coordination.

Objective
To contribute the national objective of sustainable development through minimized human suffering and loss and damage to the economic infrastructure by promoting and strengthening national capacities for disaster management.

Secretariat for Northern Displaced Muslims


The office of the S.N.D.M which was established at Puttalam is responsible for providing all basic / fundamental welfare activities and legal entitlements to the victimized Northern Displaced People those who were expelled on forced action in October 1990 and who have taken shelters for the survival outside Northern Province.

The Commissioner General is responsible for the provision of basic fundamental relief and humanitarian assistance of the displaced persons, until total resettlement of the victimized people to their places of origin is achieved.

The Commissioner General has a supportive staff headed by a Commissioner to assist in the functions of his responsibilities. This office ensures the following requirements of Internally Displaced persons.
  • Provision of shelters food, water, sanitation and other household needs.
  • Ensure proper Health facilities and preventive health facilities.
  • Ensure the safety, security of the IDPs.
  • Coordination and supportive action to obtain legal entitlements of IDPs.
  • Ensure and facilitate to provide proper formal and informal education to IDPs. Provision of Livelihood assistance and  guidance for self employment
